IIT Roorkee invites applications from qualified SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PD candidates for Assistant Professor positions under a Special Recruitment Drive in various academic units of the Institute.

Pay Structure

• Assistant Professor Grade-I: Academic Pay Level 12 (₹1,01,500 – ₹1,67,400)

• Assistant Professor Grade-II: Academic Pay Level 10 (₹57,700 – ₹98,200) , Minimum starting pay: ₹89,800 at Cell No. 16

Minimum Eligibility

Assistant Professor Grade-I

• Ph.D. in relevant discipline

• First class or equivalent at preceding degree

• Very good academic record

• Minimum 3 years of teaching, research, or industrial experience (post-Ph.D.)

Assistant Professor Grade-II

• Ph.D. in relevant discipline

• First class or equivalent at preceding degree

• Very good academic record

Candidates with exceptional research profiles may be considered for higher starting pay as per institute norms.

• Ph.D. degree certificate

• All academic mark sheets and degree certificates

• Valid category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PD) in prescribed format

• Research statement

• Teaching statement

• List of publications

• Any other supporting documents

Selection Procedure

1. Screening of applications by Departmental committees
2. Shortlisting based on academic record, research output, and relevance
3. Seminar / presentation (online or in-person)
4. Interview by the Selection Committee
5. Final approval by Competent Authority of IIT Roorkee

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for further stages.

Benefits and Facilities

• Fellowship of ₹30,000 per month for 3 years for new Assistant Professors

• Travel allowance on joining (₹1,00,000 for candidates from India; ₹1,50,000 for candidates from abroad)

• On-campus residential accommodation (if available)

• Professional Development Allowance: ₹3 Lakhs per 3 years

• Faculty Initiation Grant: up to ₹20 Lakhs for 3 years

• Additional ₹2 Lakhs for laptop, printer, and research essentials at joining

• Medical attendance and treatment for self and family

• Children Education Allowance

• Leave Travel Concession as per rules

• Support for research, consultancy, industry collaborations, and international exposure
